Yana Beylinson is a contemporary American painter based in Holmdel, New Jersey, near New York City.
Beylinson’s paintings explore the dynamic relationship between light and surfaces, opaque or translucent. Drawing inspiration from 17th-century Dutch master paintings, she reinterprets them in her original work, where colors and shapes take on lives of their own, becoming as essential as the physical subjects they represent. Her brushwork fuses Eastern and Western principles, emphasizing the energy of the stroke itself.
Her work is included in private collections worldwide, as well as in a public collection at the Richmond University Medical Center in Staten Island, NY. Beylinson has created large-scale public installations in Hong Kong and China.
Beylinson’s work has been exhibited in the Butler Institute for American Art, the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art, The Butler Institute of American Art, Cape Cod Museum of Art, Principle Gallery, and First Street Gallery, among others. She has had two solo shows at Abend Gallery in Denver, CO, and served on the panel for Realism Live 2024.
Statement
My painting process is a continuous exploration of the spiritual, a search for the unseen forces that shape our reality. While my subjects remain consistent, they traverse different realms—some works are reinterpretations of 17th-century Dutch still life, others depict imagined landscapes, and still others emerge as contemplative still life compositions.
Each painting serves as a portal, inviting the viewer into a world beyond the visible. My work does not seek to merely depict objects but to reveal an essence beyond language—an unspoken, elemental truth.
Deeply inspired by the lineage of Western art, I fuse its traditions with the immediacy and presence of traditional Chinese brush painting. Through decisive, expressive strokes, I aim to capture energy in its purest form, merging discipline with spontaneity.
